Maggie

Maggie is a minimalist puzzle platformer in which you guide Maggie, a cute magnetic red cube, through a series of levels using only her ability to grow and shrink.

The player explores Maggie's world by growing and shrinking along, crossing huge gaps using the help of magnets.

Wait till you see how Maggie can unlock doors and even change gravity!

Controls

Maggie has a very unique control system, due to its unique movement.

You do not run around using WASD, you cannot jump or even use the mouse.

Instead, Maggie grows and shrinks along one axis at a time using WASD and the arrow keys respectively.

For example, pressing D and then the Right Arrow would leave you one block to the right and unchanged in size. Good Luck!

History

Maggie is a demo of 10 levels with increasing difficulty, made for the BAFTA YGD competition in 2018.

Maggie managed to win the 10-14 year old game designer's competition.

Maggie has now found its way to itch.io, so that it cannot be lost, and others can hopefully find some joy in our little red cube.

Maggie was made a long time ago now, and it is no longer being developed.

This is technically not the same version as submitted to BAFTA in 2018, as some unity systems were outdated. However, I didn't change a pixel!

I hope you enjoy this game, I was 10 years old when I completed it, it was my first Unity project, and it made me happy at the very least.

Nice concept and puzzle design, and amazing work for a 10-year-old!

Suggestions for improvement: the animations are slow enough to hinder play, and the controls are awkward (I'd suggest one set of arrow keys to move the whole player, and separate grow and shrink keys).
